Mhondoro Arts Ensemble
The Mhondoro Arts Ensemble is a vibrant cultural group under the Simba Arts Outreach Project, based at Mai Musodzi Community Hall in Harare, Zimbabwe. Specializing in the traditional sounds of mbira and marimba, the ensemble is dedicated to preserving and promoting Zimbabwean heritage through music and dance. Their performances, rich in rhythm and storytelling, celebrate the country's deep-rooted cultural traditions, bringing them to life in the community and beyond. The ensemble not only entertains but also educates, fostering a deeper appreciation of Zimbabwe's artistic legacy.
Taurai Montessori School for Different abled children
Taurai is an organization that offers speech & language as well as occupational therapy to individuals & schools. It designates specific therapists to schools, hospitals and individuals. Taurai also has a home based learning center for children with or without special needs. The school aims to create a homely environment that promotes mental, physical, academic, spiritual and social aspects of every child whilst maintaining their individual qualities through the Montessori curriculum. It also aims to provide an inclusive and safe refuge for children between the ages of 5 to 16 with developmental disorders and neurological conditions such as Autism spectrum disorder, downs syndrome, cerebral palsy and any learning disability.
Dance & Music in Schools
Members of Simba Arts oversee the dance sector at various schools, including Aunt Prim's ECD & Primary School, Gwinyai Primary School, Shingirirai Primary in Mbare, Dudley Primary School in Norton, Taurai Montessori (a special school for children with disabilities), Adventist Sentinel Academy in Waterfalls, and Bethel Academy (Primary & Secondary) in Hatcliffe. As part of the Simba Arts Outreach Project, they provide students with comprehensive dance training, blending traditional and contemporary styles. The program nurtures young talent, instills a love for the arts, and promotes cultural awareness, enriching the students' educational experience.
